Brown Butterfly

I met this butterfly at an event I was working outdoors, and it seemed completely exhausted because it stayed in one spot instead of flying away. When I offered my hand, it stepped onto it and just stood there. It was tasting my skin with its tongue and I thought it was probably thirsty, so I put a little water in a bottle cap beside it. It drank for a long time! Though it might have been better with sweetened water, I felt like I had saved its life. It eventually flew away.

The photo I caught had quite a boring background (it had rested on the side of my cabinet.)  I made up the sweet water station from memories of butterfly exhibits.
