I painted this one last summer for the Arizona Pastel Artists Association Annual Quirky Categories Online Members Show. One of the categories was "bugs." Aaaand, since I was the one to suggest that category, I figured I'd better paint some bugs!
I don't know why I never got around to posting this painting, but here it is now. The reference photo was a fortuitous find when searching my "bugs" folders and sub-folders. I can't even remember where I took it, but don't they look happy?

The show can still be seen on the APAA site (My painting of Argie "His Majesty" had won First Place in the Pets With Attitude category, and was chosen for the catalogue cover!)
See a neat little GIF of the process here!
