Rita Kirkman Studio - Art News

November 2016

I'm back in the studio in November, with a (mostly) wide-open schedule... So I've set some new goals and I've got some new brags!

One Third in New Mexico!

I'm very pleased to say that my painting "Familiar", 8x10, has won the Third Place award in the Pastel Society of New Mexico's 25th Annual National Pastel Painting Exhibition, at Hispanic Arts Center, EXPO NM in Albuquerque. The exhibit continues through November 27, 2016.

The Biggest Pastel Party on the Planet!

The International Association of Pastel Societies biannual convention is the first week of June, 2017... and I'll be there!!

I'm excited that my one-day workshop on June 7th, "The Intimate Animal Portrait", is now FULL! Find out how to get on the wait list HERE!

I also have a demo on June 9th, which still has spaces... It will be a fun time doing quick portrait sketches of audience volunteers!

Another Third in Round Top!

My painting "The Fairy Rose" (pastel, 9x12) also won Third Place the The Pastel Society of Southeast Texas National Juried Exhibition, Art of the Pastel, at the Gallery at Round Top through November 26, 2016.

30-in-30 for November ... Again!

I've taken on the "30-paintings-in-30-days" challenge two more times since September of 2014. I did it in November 2014 and again in November last year.

November seems to be my best month for it, so I'm going to give it another go!

I do have a couple of fairly big commissions to get done also this month, so I'll just try my best and we'll see what happens...

(I'll be happy with 15+ actually!)

If you'd like to see each painting as soon as it's done, subscribe to my blog, and you'll get each post in your inbox! I'd love to have your support rooting me on from day to day!
