Dear Subscriber,
As the year begins to wind to a close, my thoughts are moving ahead to 2024. I'm in two Florida art fairs in March (in Naples and Winter Park) so I MUST kick myself back into painting mode to replenish my inventory!
With that in mind, I was going to make December another 20-in-30 painting month.
But then the first whole weekend disappeared (ever had that happen?) and the lazy brain was whispering "... It's Ok Rita, you can start in January. Relax!"
NO!
Though I'm not in the mood... I've been off my vibe since that long September of caricaturing... I've learned that the BEST way to get myself motivated to paint is to get out there to the studio and PAINT!
Uh, ok, you say, isn't that some circular logic? All right, I'll be more specific and admit that I'm a slave to my promises. If I say I'll do something, I will do it, or at least give it my all.
If no one knows that I've said it, it doesn't work. (So, no silent promises to myself, lol.) if I say it to YOU, it makes it real.
THAT will get me out and painting, and experience tells me that once I start, the bug will catch me and keep me going.
So, as a compromise, I've decided to flow along with some other artists I follow, and do my own "12 Paintings of Christmas." But in my case they will all be brand new paintings created this month, and if I can manage to get them all painted before Christmas, I'll reward myself with a little vacation 'til New Year's (or maybe I'll keep painting instead ;)
To start it off, here's #1 of 12...
