Dear Subscriber,

July is relatively calm (compared to my usual months.) I have a paint-along in a couple weeks, along with some other Virtual Open Studio Days. Otherwise my month is fairly quiet. So guess what I'll do? Yes, I think I'll paint some more! :) I missed my June goal but only by two paintings...

Oh, and don't forget to check out my next in-person workshop coming up soon in August!

Celebrate the end of summer in air-conditioned comfort on the Gulf Coast!

There are just a few spaces left in this intensive 3-day workshop. You will learn how to create a vibrant sense of glowing light in your pastel paintings. Instruction emphasizes value and temperature as keys to unlocking the light. Learn to underpaint using pastel primers to "nail the values!" You will get personal feedback and critiques for three whole days!

Multiple small works are encouraged for speedy artistic growth. At least three hours each day will be devoted to individual feedback and critiques.

For adventurous beginners all the way to advanced pastelists.

(Enjoy some morning and evening walks on the beach - a short distance from the back door!)

18 Paintings Completed in my

20-Painting Challenge for June

Daily Paintings June 2023

So I didn't make my goal of 20 paintings, but so what... I did 18 paintings in June, that's pretty good!

You can take this as a lesson of encouragement, knowing that even the professionals can fall short of their own goals. There's no shame in missing the mark sometimes. The important thing is that you have goals and to give it your best shot, and you might surprise yourself.

You can see all of these paintings on my Patreon page's public posts, many with neat little speed videos or progress pics and other misc tips.
