Rita Kirkman Studio - Art News

March 2017

I'll be painting in the studio this Spring Break, creating new art for the Bayou City Art Fest which called me off the wait list, yay! Also have been scheduling new workshops for this summer and fall...

Bayou City Art Festival - Memorial Park

"A Texas Tradition" (pastel, 36x36)

March 24-26, 2017

So happy to be called off the wait list for this, my favorite art festival! So far I will be in booth #941 in Birch, unless they can give me a shadier spot.

I'll have my newest large longhorn painting and lots of other fresh works!

Come on by, browse and shop the world-class art, enjoy the eclectic music and food, and spend an enjoyable weekend in Houston!

"Familiar" (pastel, 8x10)

So you want to sell your art?

But you don't know how much to ask?

I recently had a question from another artist who wanted my opinion on what price she should put on a particular painting. It took me a few days to get back to her because I didn't have any ready answer to her question. The short answer is, "It depends."

The long answer is complicated, and might not tell you what you want to hear. Read more about it on my Art Journal Blog...

Auction of the Week

"Petunias in a Glass" (oil, 8.5 x 5.5)

My first oil painting in 3 years! Thanks to Stephanie Birdsall, our workshop instructor this past weekend for the Austin Pastel Society. She works and teaches in oil as well as pastel, and a few of us decided we wanted to do oils.
