Dear Subscriber,
My first in-person workshop of the year (in New Orleans) was a fabulous
success. My next one is coming soon, this month, in Round Top Texas
!
I have a host of reasons to increase my time at the easel this year...
I'll give you a quick glimpse into what's on my 2025 calendar so far!

A Demo from New Orleans
"Attraction" (pastel, 6x6 inches)
"Attraction" (pastel, 6x6 inches)
This bee was one of my demos. I like painting bees. I have a handful of
excellent bee pics taken in the morning light around a huge blooming
prickly pear cactus in Kerrville TX. Since I've painted so many of them
with those yellow pear blossoms, this time I photoshopped one of them
into a suitably backlit hibiscus pic that I might have taken in
Albuquerque.
This bee painting is available here.

My next in-person workshop is closer to home, just a hop and a skip
away in the charming little artsy antique town of Round Top TX.
This intensive three-day workshop will teach you how to infuse your
paintings with warm sunlight. You will learn to nail your values using
an acrylic-based underpainting, then identify and utilize color
temperatures to make your paintings glow!

Exciting Things Happening in 2025!
small works in the studio
small works in the studio
After three art festivals this
spring, I'll need to brush up on my pastel portraits so I can whip out
a 90 minute portrait demo for Pastel Live (pre-recorded, thank
goodness!) that will be due sometime in August.
All summer long I'll be busy at the easel, so I'll have enough this
fall to send 5 paintings to the Salon International du Pastel
in Saint Brisson sur Loire, France (so
excited to have been invited!!) AND to have at least 20 small works
available for the PAPAT 4th
International Pastel Exhibition in Taiwan, my second year to be invited!
And to top off the year, I'll be the guest artist at the Wind Way
Gallery in Rockport TX in December.
That's a lot of paintings! Cheer me on!

works, subscribe to my New Art Alerts

A young artist exhibits their work for the first time,
and a well known art critic is in attendance.
The critic says to the young artist, "would you like my opinion
on your work?"
"Yes," says the young artist.
"It's worthless," says the critic.
The artist replies, "I know, but tell me anyway."
