Dear Subscriber,
I hope your New Year has started off with resolutions for a better
future! I've been a little sluggish getting going this year, but I'm
improving! I'm inspired by the posts of Gail Sibley on her blog "How to
Pastel". She had a recent post on finding a Word of the Year
.
I believe mine will be "BEING"... I find myself stressing over all the
things I need to do and all the things I want to do, that I sometimes
miss the joy of the here and now.
My own New Year's post
on my
Patreon talks about enjoying the process (of painting) but that can be
applied to anything in life. I need to simply "be" and enjoy the
process of living in the moment.
I have a few things happening in January. Mostly getting ready for a
couple of workshops and then some Art festivals later this spring. (Now
if I can manage to enjoy life in the moment while still building enough
painting inventory!...I'll be working on that!)

A Color Challenge Paint-Along!
Sat, Jan 18, 1pm Central Time
Image 5933658
This month I decided I want to continue a few more of my Power Chicks
color and value exploration, for the Paint-Along on Jan 18th at 1pm
Central Time!
I did these four Power Chicks way back in 2020... you can watch a 5
minute video of them them here!
I, along with my Moo-tastic Muses and Bunny Buddies on Patreon, will be
continuing this fun experiment with more color/value combos, and you
can come too for $10, without a subscription! Buy the invite here
(or
just join or upgrade for a better deal!)
We'll be painting my chick, OR use your own photo (this experiment
works great on landscapes!) These first four chicks were on the simple
concepts of dark, light, cool and warm. There are dozens of other ideas
for color schemes and value combinations. We're going to play around
and make up four more!
I hope you decide to come!

I'm excited to announce that my painting "The Letter" (pastel, 16x20
inches) is a part the China Zhuhai "PASTEL WORLD" Online Pastel
Invitational Exhibition 2024 and the 10th Zhuhai Shutong Art Pastel
Invitational Exhibition.
This exhibition unites pastel artists worldwide, featuring works by
presidents of pastel societies from eight countries and contributions
from artists across the globe, including 62 pieces by 40 Chinese
pastelists. Its goal is to position Zhuhai as China's hub for pastel
art.
The show can be seen online here.
