Rita Kirkman Studio
November 2024
_____
Dear Subscriber,
November is a simpler month, mostly centered around our local Wurstfest
, where I'll again be drawing caricatures with
my friend Sean.
I do have a few more workshops on the calendar in the coming months,
and a little award brag too... read on!

Wurstfest
Nov. 1-10, 2024

Find me down the stairs under the Stelzenhaus (directly across from
Naeglin's Bakery booth!) right as you come in from Gate 1 off of Landa
Street. Hang out around there a while for some great music, food and
shopping. The Stelzenhaus is not nearly
as crowded as the Wursthalle and Marketplatz.
We're open all day Saturdays and Sundays plus the weekday evenings!

An Honorable Mention
for my neighborhood painting!
Image 5848051
"Just Down the Road a Bit" (pastel, 6x12 inches, available here
) was my first official painting of the Two Rivers Plein Air Event
earlier this month. I planned most of that Tuesday for painting out,
and knowing me, I knew I could easily loose all the best light by
driving around too long looking for somewhere "perfect", so this was
literally just down the road from my house, maybe a half mile at most.
I saw the nice light and shadows from the trees, and with no further
debating, pulled over and settled in (in my driver's seat, lol) to
paint!
It's a simple scene, but it's all about the light. The judge liked it
enough to give it an Honorable Mention. :)
Here's the view from my "easel" when I was done. (My goodness, the
shadows shorten quickly when plein air-ing!) See more progress pics
here of how I underpainted this painting with reds and pinks!
