Rita Kirkman Studio
July 2023
_____
Dear Subscriber,
July is relatively calm (compared to my usual months.) I have a
paint-along in a couple weeks, along with some other Virtual Open
Studio Days. Otherwise my month is fairly quiet. So guess what I'll do?
Yes, I think I'll paint some more! :) I missed my June goal but only by
two paintings...
Oh, and don't forget to check out my next in-person workshop
coming up soon in August!

~ A few spaces left ~
In-Person Pastel Workshop
Rockport TX
August 29-31, 2023
Rita Kirkman workshop sample pics
Celebrate the end of summer in air-conditioned comfort on the Gulf
Coast!
There are just a few spaces left in this intensive 3-day workshop. You
will learn how to create a vibrant sense of glowing light in your
pastel paintings. Instruction emphasizes value and temperature as keys
to unlocking the light. Learn to underpaint using pastel primers to
"nail the values!" You will get personal feedback and critiques for
three whole days!
Multiple small works are encouraged for speedy artistic growth. At
least three hours each day will be devoted to individual feedback and
critiques.
For adventurous beginners all the way to advanced pastelists.
(Enjoy some morning and evening walks on the beach - a short distance
from the back door!)

Daily Paintings June 2023
So I didn't make my goal of 20 paintings, but so what... I did 18
paintings in June, that's pretty good!
You can take this as a lesson of encouragement, knowing that even the
professionals can fall short of their own goals. There's no shame in
missing the mark sometimes. The important thing is that you have goals
and to give it your best shot, and you might surprise yourself.
You can see all of these paintings on my Patreon page
's public posts, many with
neat little speed videos or progress pics and other misc tips.
Stay tuned for some new paintings this month too. Subscribe to my New
